How It Began

Entrepreneurship at its finest!

After graduating from Simon Fraser University Communications and Advertising BA, Alper took the hard way and instead of choosing the blue pill (easy, simple life) , he went with the red pill. Red pill was a challenge, which was taking over a small family business that has been stuck at the borders of Turkey and bringing the big stage to North America.

One of the things Canada showed to Alper was the importance of sustainability and organic way of life. In 2012, after learning more about how textiles are actually really bad for the world (for instance, in order to manufacture 1 jean,  it requires 3 tons of water) he decided to bring his family business to Canada.

Hirna & Ahsen

One of the things that brought the best out of Alper, was marrying to true marketing genius, Hirna. Hirna was the main reason that sales to Canada began to speed up. She made sure Vancouver knew about Chic Towels, and it became more and more popular everyday.

In the Summer of 2020, after recruiting his award winning fashion designer sister to his team, Alper had more reasons than ever before to believe in this business.

Thanks to my cousin's efforts in our workshop, thanks to my wife's efforts to spread our brand, thanks to my sister's beautiful designs, and thanks to hundreds of customers, now we believe in this business more than ever  before.

Why Buldan Cotton Is So Special?

What Do We Use?

Buldan cotton! Although it sounds an easy answer, the one most understand the full definition of the word ``cotton`` and its variations. Cotton is a staple fiber, which means it is composed of different, varying lengths of fibers. Cotton is made from the natural fibers of cotton plants, which are from the genus Gossypium. The term ``cotton`` as we know, refers to the part of the cotton plant that grows in the boll—the encasing for the fluffy cotton fibers. Cotton is spun into yarn that is then woven to create a soft, durable fabric.

Origin Of Cotton

The word comes from the Arabic word ``quton`` even though the first production of cotton was in India starting from the fifth millennium BC. With the emergence of industrial revolution countries like United States and Europe was able to increased production of cotton drastically. Eventually this led countries like the United States, China and India to take over the production all around the globe with high-quality cotton production.

Where Does It Grow? Is It Even Organic?

Cotton grows in nearly all tropical and subtropical regions around the world, including the U.S., China, India, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Brazil, and Turkey.

In order to learn about how much cotton is really organic, read my blog post https://www.chictowels.com/blogread/cotton-organic-versus-conventional-9

It is really eye opening!

But long story short, only 1 % is really organic.

What Makes Your Cotton Special?

Long and soft fibers make a great cotton. There are 4 different kinds of cotton such as Pima cotton, Egyptian cotton, Upland cotton and Organic Cotton. It is usually super hard to find organic cotton with extra long fibers. Pima cotton is considered the best, but it is not processed organically.

What makes Buldan Cotton special is its organic production from planting the cotton seed to picking the crop to the processing it in a cotton gin and its long and soft fibers which makes it not just organic, but also Pima quality.
